River Roll & Stroll

Once a year, for just a few hours, we shut down the Route 116 bridge between Holyoke and South Hadley and meet in the middle for the River Roll & Stroll, a FREE pop-up street festival. The event spans the Connecticut River just below the roaring Holyoke Dam, filling the bridge with a joyful spectacle of music, art, food, and celebration.

Bring your bicycle, unicycle, stilts, chalk, or skates and join us on Sunday, May 6th from 11AM to 3PM. The River Roll & Stroll is free and entertaining for all ages and musical persuasions.

The River Roll & Stroll lineup features a series of remarkable artistic collaborations, with musicians and dancers parading in from opposite sides of the bridge to join forces on our center stage.

The 2018 festival lineup includes Latin Grammy Award winner, Mister G with the Berkshire Bateria; Holyoke wordsmith Roshay with the Crazefaze hip-hop dance crew; Somerville’s Desperate Measures Street Band with the Expandable Brass Band; Salsa Train Orquestra; and many more!

Food & Activities

Blow a giant bubble, spin a hula hoop, shake a tambourine, and dance to the raucous rhythm of fifteen flamboyant drummers. There will be activities for everyone including face painting, chalk art, screen printing, weaving, mini golf, family fitness, puppets, fire truck, and more!

We’ll have a fleet of food trucks on both sides: El-Guanaco, Bruiser’s BBQ, Corsello Butcheria, Holyoke Hummus Company, Bistro Bus, Murphy’s Pub, as well as Crooked Stick Pops and Chill Out if you fancy something cool and sweet.
